Cultural pride an acknowledgement of our past and a social necessity
It was pride in my Scottish ancestors that motivated me to start to film their story in 1989. Today their story has been retailed to thirteen countries, featured on national and international television programmes, been the content of many academic papers presented by me Dr Don Carney at academic conferences nationally and internationally. Clips through business sponsorship have been made available for twenty years to every Scottish school as validated educational resources through Historic Environment Scotland’s educational portal. Many contemporary researchers are using our clips as new resources for their studies.
We have just launched our reminiscence film therapy for alzheimer’s and dementia health care available 24/7 digitally. This provision is a world first and brings hope and support to people living with these progressive conditions.
