Our dementia reminiscence therapy clips, known as “A Picture House of My Past Memories,” were developed as a result of personal experiences with dementia. Over the years, our award-winning Scottish heritage business received lots of different positive feedback. This was received from customers locally, nationally, and internationally. In particular we received feedback from families of individuals living with people with dementia. They shared how our heritage clips helped their loved ones reconnect with their past. From Heritage to health care
Our clips were initially produced as heritage DVDs. They transported individuals back to a time they could vividly remember and connect with personally. This feedback has played a pivotal role in shaping how we have transitioned from heritage film makers to alzheimer’s and dementia reminiscence therapy providers. Alongside this work, musical therapy sessions and past-themed presentations have been delivered by Don to dementia and alzheimer’s groups. This diverse experience, and working with dementia professionals encouraged us to develop customised reminiscence clips for dementia therapy.

Extensive Research into Dementia and Alzheimer’s
Through collaboration with dementia care professionals and carers, the positive impact of reminiscence therapy clips was consistently confirmed as a valuable addition to dementia care. Extensive research into dementia and alzheimer’s confirmed that stories about the past could stimulate memories and improve mood. These past stories could also greatly improve the quality of life for individuals living with these conditions.
This research, feedback and experience initiated our dementia-focused journey. Reminiscence therapy clips were then developed and created to meet the unique and diverse needs of people living with dementia and alzheimer’s. It was believed, and later validated, that reconnecting individuals with their past through our unique clips could act as an effective non-invasive drug free intervention for dementia and alzheimer care.
